Looking out for each other during the World Cup

Image shows people watching football on TV sat on the sofa together with their backs to the camera. They are wearing blue football shirts.

The FIFA World Cup kicks off on 11 June. Many of our customers will enjoy watching the matches with friends and family, and we want everyone to enjoy the tournament safely and respectfully.

Major football tournaments can sometimes lead to increased noise, anti-social behaviour, and domestic abuse incidents, particularly during England men’s team matches. We’re asking all customers to be considerate and help keep our communities safe and welcoming for everyone.

Noise levels

Celebrations are natural, but excessive noise, especially late at night, can disturb neighbours, including young children, older residents, and people working shifts.

Please try to:

  • keep music, shouting, chanting, and TVs at a reasonable level;
  • avoid banging on walls, doors, or communal areas;
  • be especially considerate after evening kick-offs.

Visitors and gatherings

If you’re inviting friends or family to watch matches, please help keep shared spaces safe and respectful by:

  • keeping communal entrances, hallways, and stairwells clear;
  • making sure guests respect neighbours when arriving and leaving;
  • avoiding behaviour that may cause nuisance, harassment, damage, or intimidation.

Alcohol and behaviour

Please enjoy the football responsibly.

Aggressive, threatening, abusive, or discriminatory behaviour won't be tolerated and may result in tenancy enforcement action, police involvement, or both.

Domestic abuse support

Football doesn't cause domestic abuse. However, support services and police data show incidents can increase during major tournaments.

If you're experiencing domestic abuse or are worried about someone else, support is available:

Respect your community

Not everyone watches football or supports the same teams. Please be respectful of different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds throughout the tournament.

By showing consideration for one another, we can all enjoy the World Cup while keeping our neighbourhoods safe and welcoming.
