As Delta, we’re strengthening our commitment to our communities. Working more efficiently enables us to work more closely with people and deliver better support where it matters most. One recent example saw colleagues come together to help a survivor of domestic abuse take an important step towards a safer and brighter future.

A former-Estuary home in Epping was empty because the local council was unable to nominate a suitable customer to live in it. To make sure the home could be used by someone who needed it most, former CHP and Estuary teams worked together to widen the search for a suitable customer.

When we worked collaboratively to advertise the home, a match was quickly identified. The new tenant was fleeing domestic abuse and was looking for an opportunity to rebuild her life in a safe environment. Working together, support was put in place to help overcome barriers to the move, including arrangements around existing rent arrears and assistance with removal costs.

The result was a life-changing move for the customer, who was able to relocate to a completely different area and begin a fresh start. She was delighted with her new home, particularly having a garden of her own, and was over the moon to have somewhere safe and secure to call home.

By coming together as Delta, our goal was to achieve more collectively than we could as separate organisations. This demonstrates how a broader operating footprint, a collaborative approach, and effective partnerships can help make better use of available homes and deliver positive outcomes for customers and communities.
